1/31/2024 0 Comments Kaplan diagnostic mcat![]() ![]() This Subreddit: One of my best resources for motivation, mnemonics, questions, and helpful memes was this subreddit.Like writing it in a strict format, but having 2 weeks left over at the end or one day a week to catch up. If things were not going well for the day, I would add an extra 3-hour block that same day or the next day when I felt better. The way I accounted for this was by making my schedule with space to mess up. Accounting for Off Days/Burnout: Sometimes it will feel like you're missing questions you shouldn't be missing or you can have headaches which are signs of burnout. If someone would like a copy of this sheet feel free to ask. Each morning I would start the day by making a memorization sheet with all the amino acids, structures, all glycolysis intermediates and enzymes, gluconeogenesis intermediates and enzymes, and helpful mnemonics. I would review the questions by going over every answer choice and going over why it was wrong or right. When you practice, if you get it right or wrong, always review the answers and why you got it wrong or right. Your brain works in marvelous ways and will trick you into thinking you know the material and don't need to go in-depth especially at the beginning. It is not enough to content review, watch a video, and be done with it. Practice and Review: Practice, practice, practice.I was able to fit in two study blocks per day and if for some reason I did not hit my goal because of procrastination or burnout, I would add a third block during the night. Like it is not enough just setting up the 3-hour block and writing something like "Review Biology", instead I would go like "Read Chapter 2 and 3 of Biology and do Practice Questions". I also organize my time more task-based, rather than time-based. I organized the first 6 weeks to do content review in this format of the blocks while taking a Practice Full Length each week, a rest day, and starting the week by reviewing the full length. Organization: The way I maximized my time which I think was a key to being more efficient is to divide my time into 3-hour blocks separated by 2 hours of break time. These are the 7 things I found most important in my journey. I quickly Googled whats a good score, how many hours I should study, and how to improve. I started studying for the MCAT on May 8th 2020 by taking the Kaplan Diagnostic and ended up scoring a measly 488. There is no one superior way or shortcut, I am just going to document how I approached my journey. Well here goes: I would like to clarify that everyone has their own journey and that there are different paths that work for everyone. Hello, wonderful people!
